Superintendent’s
Holiday Open House
District Office Staff Attending the Superintendent's Holiday Open House |
On Tuesday, December 20, I
hosted a Holiday Open House for District Office employees to come together and
enjoy a cup of cheer and some breakfast treats before we all head in many
different directions later this week. I appreciated hearing the stories of
plans for holiday merriment and time spent together with loved ones. Our
District Office staff is committed to the betterment of our District and the
welfare of our students.
District
Office Holiday Luncheon
A Sampling of the Gifts District Office Staff Donated for Needy GUHSD Families |
The staff in the district
office held its annual holiday party on Thursday, December 22. The annual
highlight included a performance by the Advanced Ensemble of the Grossmont Red
Robe Choir, under the direction of Dr. Ed Basilio.
It was a fun event, made
even more meaningful by the generous donations of our staff. Again this year,
several families in need were selected from within our GUHSD family of schools
and staff purchased clothing, gift cards, bikes and toys. After the holiday
luncheon, the gifts were delivered to the families.
The luncheon itself was
overseen by our talented Food Services Director, Vince Scimone and his staff.
The meal was underwritten by the Superintendent’s Cabinet.
This act of combined
generosity, along with all the many wonderful donation programs occurring at
our school sites, embodies the true holiday spirit. I’m blessed to lead this
dedicated and compassionate team.
To
all GUHSD Faculty, Staff, & Administration,
I am taking this
opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you for the warm welcome that I have
received over the past six months. The
Grossmont Union High School District is a wonderful place to call home, and
that is largely a result of the dedicated people who work here. I have had the pleasure of getting to know
many of you, and I will continue my commitment to connect as often as I can
with those of you doing the critically important work on our campuses.
We have much to be proud of
in our schools. Our students are accomplishing great things, and our teachers are
working collaboratively to deliver quality instruction for our students. The
recent passage of Measure BB, will expand the effort to bring better facilities
that support our academic program.
I wish each and every one
of you a happy holiday. I hope you will take time to rest and enjoy your
families over this well-deserved break.
Classes resume on Monday, January 9. See you next year!
